This is a MASSIVE Meissen Punch bowl C.1740, WHICH I AM GOING TO SAY IS UNIQUE. I think this could be specially made for an important person. Or someone very rich. Size is 32 1/4cm wide x 15 1/2cm high. AMAZINGLY, IT IS IN PERFECT CONDITION THROUGHOUT. Painted with two large Battle Scenes from the Turkish Wars after G.P. Rugendas. In between those it has flowers painted by Johann Gottfried Klinger, who created the Shaded Holzschnittblumen (shadowed Flowers) he also done this with Bugs. He worked for the Meissen Factory until 1746. It has the Meissen Cross Swords and impressed 20 on the Base. Interestingly, it also has a hidden Crossed Swords in the Battle Scene on the Flag. In all the big sales, and fine Meissen sellers, I have never seen such a LARGE IMPRESSIVE bowl as this, and I have seen thousands of early Meissen over 30 years
CONDITION. PERFECT AND NEVER TOUCHED OR RESTORED IN 260 YEARS.
